Obituary for Sharon Lee McCormack (Russell)

WYTOPITLOCK AND REED PLANTATION - Sharon Lee (Russell) McCormack of Wytopitlock and Reed Plantation died unexpectedly at home after a brief illness on January 4, 2018. She was born on August 18, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Geraldine (Jacobs) and Ross Russell.

She was predeceased by her mother, Geraldine (Jacobs); stepfather, Lowell Rollins; her father, Ross Russell; and stepbrother, Glen; her sister, Jolene (Russell) Powell; her brother-in-law, Milan Powell; and the love of her life, her husband, Nelson "Red" McCormack.

Sharon is survived by Jolene's children, Rory Wood, Tonya (Powell) Mclaughlin and David Powell, their children, Laurel, Emily, Jesse, Cody and Samantha; her stepmother, Clara Russell, and nine stepsiblings, brothers-in-law, Jim, Frank, Scott, their spouses, and many special nieces and nephews growing up across the street and at the Harvey camp. Sharon, was known as "Aunt Shay" to every kid in town growing up, not just her own.

Sharon will be missed by many close friends who have spent many years with her enjoying, horse shows and parades, horseshoe tournaments, at the Springfield fair, fishing, and boating. Shay was very active with Red at the Fish and Game Club and was known for making Christmas wreaths. She spent her later years working at Rideouts until retiring.

Family will have a committal on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Drew Plantation Cemetery.
