Obituary for Gayle Ann Kinney

Gayle Ann  Kinney
Gayle Kinney, 66, of Bangor, died on January 9, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 5, 1951, the daughter of Francis and Beatrice (Bryant) Woodhead.
Gayle was an active, vibrant woman. She married Crawford “Skip” Kinney Jr., of Bangor, on January 19, 1974. Gayle and Skip lived a full life together. They had one son, K.C., and enjoyed traveling, boating, and hosting parties for friends and family. Always the life of the party, Gayle loved entertaining at her home in Bangor and “camp” on Phillips Lake. She could always be found singing and dancing in her kitchen. Gayle spent most of her career working for the Maine District Court System in the Transcript Division. She made many friends and loved what she did. In 2013, Gayle took on a new title, “Grum,” when her granddaughter, Lydia, was born. Being Lydia’s Grum meant the world to Gayle.
Gayle is survived by her son, K.C. Kinney and his wife, Heather, of Brewer and one granddaughter, Lydia. She is also survived by her sister, Ellen Woodhead, of Bangor; her brother, James Woodhead, of Dedham, and his children, Elysa and Vincent Woodhead. She also leaves behind Emily, Wally and Mary Margaret, whom she loved like family.
Gayle was predeceased by her husband, Skip; parents, Francis and Beatrice; brother, Dennis; best friend, Debbie Ayer, and four-legged companion, Sadie.
A “Happy Hour” gathering in Gayle’s honor will be held on January 16, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, located at 163 Center St., Bangor.
Internment will be held in the Spring.
