Barbara A. Donnelly, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by family February 11, 2018, at Eastern Maine Medical Center after battling a long illness. She was born September 13, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Daniel G. and Rita L. (Snedden) McCaffrey. Barbara graduated from Pomperaug High School, Class of 1977, in Southbury, CT. Following graduation, Barbara began her career in finance and banking. For the past nineteen years, Barbara was employed by Maine Savings Federal Credit Union. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her fiancé and children. She especially loved her vacations to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Indiana, and Key West, Florida, that she and her fiancé took. Barbara was predeceased by her father, Daniel G. McCaffrey; and brother, Daniel J. McCaffrey. She is survived by her fiancé, Robert E. James Jr. of Winterport; daughters, Bridget E. Donnelly of Greenwich, CT, Kelly A. Donnelly of Bangor, and Meghan M. Donnelly of Portland; mother, Rita L. McCaffrey of Roxbury, CT; sisters, Ellen D. Ewald and her husband, William E. of Norfolk, VA, and Monica C. McCaffrey of Roxbury, CT; and many friends and acquaintances whose lives she touched. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment will be held in the spring in Connecticut.
