Richard John  Ward
BANGOR – Richard John Ward, Sr., 90, died February 25, 2018 at a local hospital. He was born June 5, 1927 in Bangor, the son of Robert and Maude (Gerow) Ward.

Dick was a World War II and Korean War veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He worked for many years in the insurance industry.

Dick was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine (Boyd) Ward and sister, Althea (Ward) Moore. He is survived by his longtime companion, Phyllis Hammond; his children, Richard J. “John” Ward, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, Sue Ward Rioux and her partner, Gary Mulsow, Pam (Ward) LeBlanc and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Richard J. “Chad” Ward, III, Alex Ward, Phyllis Ward Law, and Alexis Rioux; Phyllis Hammond’s children, Cheryl Chapman and her children, Adam and Ashley Chapman and Karen Hammond and her daughter, Brittney Kelly.

The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor 2 to 4pm, Saturday, March 3, 2018. Those who wish to remember Dick in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Maine Veterans’ Home Activities Fund, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, Maine 04401.
