Obituary for Eleanor Jean Pellerin (Ferland)

Eleanor Jean Pellerin (Ferland)
Eleanor J. Pellerin
Hampden
Eleanor Jean Pellerin, 87, of Hampden, ME died peacefully at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Bangor, ME on March 6, 2018.
Eleanor "Ellie" was born in Hartford, CT, February 7th, 1931, the daughter of Peter and Bertha Nielsen. She married Ronald "Ronnie" Pellerin in November of 1953.
Ellie grew up on dairy farms in Connecticut and Maine, and her first date with her future husband was in a farm truck. Eleanor loved her family, the outdoors and sports of all types. She loved golfing, skiing, kayaking, swimming (even in the Maine ocean), painting, dancing, gardening, boating, taking her family hiking and watching and coaching sports. Her family was the center of her life.
In later years, she and Ronnie travelled extensively, often in their Alfa Romeo convertible. One of their favorite trips was to the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec. They had three ocean-going crafts that they navigated around the islands of Penobscot bay for years with family and friends. They enjoyed playing cards and hosting poolside gatherings at their home in Hampden. Her children were the beneficiaries of countless opportunities for fun and growth due to her hard work and adventurous nature.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ron in 1996, her son, Timothy in 2015, her brother, Herbert in 2016, and her parents. She is survived by her sons Peter of Hampden and Ted and wife Sue of Monroe, daughters Rhonda and husband Greg Choquette of Brunswick, Valerie and husband Peter McCluskey of Ellsworth and grandchildren including Heather, Nathan and Michael Arsenault; Kara and Ryan McCluskey; Ollie Pellerin; Peter, Terry, Matthew, Michael and Justin Pellerin; Nicholas, Daniel and Gregory Pellerin and 12 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks for the compassionate care provided by the BRNC staff along with Beacon Hospice staff, special friends Ginny and Ray Fournier and all the others that made the trip to see her at the nursing home.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-3 pm. Sunday March 11, 2018 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave. Hampden, where a funeral service will be held at 3 pm with the Rev. Jack Williams, chaplain of Beacon Hospice, officiating. There will be a time for conversation and refreshments following the service, at a place to be announced. Spring interment will be in Lakeveiw Cemetery, Hampden.
