Candace Ann Strout
Bar Harbor- Candace Ann Strout, 69, passed away March 16, 2018, at a Waterville healthcare facility. She was born April 29, 1948, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Harvey and Mary (Grindle) Walls.
Candace graduated from Bar Harbor High School and later attended nursing school. She had a caring heart and a great sense of humor, despite suffering most of her adult life with mental illness. She cared for others while living in a group home in Bucksport. Candace had many friends. Almost every day she would walk down to the police station to visit first responders, even organizing her friends to make a meal for them. They would walk Candace home after their visits.e
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Jonathan Dunlop; two brothers, Brian and Jerry Walls; and three nephews, Reid Bryant, Bobby, and Gerry Jr. Candace is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Strout of Ellsworth; a sister, Lynn Richmond of Augusta; three nieces, Denice Young of Hallowell, Sarè Giberson of Fort Fairfield, and Jamie McIntosh of Portland.
A committal service will be held at Ledgelawn Cemetery later in the Spring. Those wishing to remember Candace in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 U.S Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
