Edward F. "Eddie"  Matson Jr.
BREWER – Edward F. “Eddie” Matson, Jr., 65, passed away March 26, 2018, following a life-long struggle with diabetes. He was born September 21, 1952, in Bangor to Edward F. and Alice (Blackman) Matson, Sr.

Eddie graduated from Winslow High School and still enjoyed spending time with some of his classmates. Following school, Eddie served in the Army. He was proud of his service to his country. Eddie worked in the auto parts business for many years in the Bangor area. Always happiest in the woods or spending time at the family camps, he passed on a love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was predeceased by a sister, Jo-Lynn Gunning. He is survived by his son, Chris Matson and Piper Thompson of Milford, daughter, Amanda Benn and Jeremy of South Portland, and son, David Matson and Cassandra of Holden; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jacob, Ava, Owen, Alex, Kallie, Gabe and Maddox; sisters, Judy Swan, Gayle Gilley, Terry Jacobs; and a brother, Harold Matson.

Relatives and friends are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at a celebration of Eddie’s Life, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. Those who wish to remember Eddie in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Maine’s Youth Fish and Game Association, P.O. Box 337, Stillwater, ME 04489.
