GLENBURN - Merton C. “Mert” Wright, 75, passed away on April 7, 2018 at a Brewer health care facility surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born May 7, 1942 in South Portland, the son of Merton E. Wright and Virginia (Hannaford) Wright. Mert served in the U.S. Navy until his medical discharge. He retired from UniFirst Corporation after 32 years. Mert loved his camp on East Grand Lake where he and Janet spent a lot of their time. He was a 43 year member of the Bangor Elks Lodge #244. Mert is survived by his loving wife, Janet and three daughters, Leslie Tracy and fiancé, Mike, Stephanie and husband, Michael, Julie and wife, Melissa; sister, Linda and husband, Fred; several grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three step-children. Mert was predeceased by his parents and grandson, Nick. Mert will be deeply missed by his loving wife Janet, friends, and family. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Friday April 13, 2018 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center Street, Bangor with the Rev. Grace Bartlett officiating. A gathering will be held at the Bangor Elks Lodge, 108 Odlin Rd, Bangor immediately following the service Friday. Those who wish to remember Mert in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Maine 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
