Obituary for David Bruce Lawler

David Bruce Lawler, 75, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at a Boston hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Hartford, CT on August 30, 1942, the son of William E. Lawler and Dorothy A. Bragg (Nee Smallwood). Dave was proud of his time in the US Navy, earning an honorable discharge in 1969. Utilizing the GI bill, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Husson College in 1973. Dave was never afraid to take a risk. He persevered through adversity to build a number of thriving businesses. His entrepreneurial spirit, unbridled ambition, and zest for life were always present, including extensive world travels with his beloved partner, Lynn. Dave was a 50 year member of the Kenduskeag Masonic Lodge #137. Dave’s Christianity was a cornerstone in his life and he fostered the same in his children. In addition to his parents Dave was predeceased by his precious daughter Michelle Lawler and his sister Carol Lawler. He is survived by his beloved April Lynn Pratt, his children Robin Rosenberg of Bangor, Patrick Lawler and his wife Melissa of Portland, Katherine Lawler Percenti and her husband Mark of Albany, NY, and Matthew Pratt of Bangor. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Madeline, Adam, Aidan, Juliet, and Anna, and two great-grandchildren, Arabelle and Anthony, and Lynn’s children Saif and Yousef Pratt, who Dave loved as his own sons. He has maintained close connections with his former wives, Eileen Murphy and Laurie Lawler who also survive him. A graveside service will be held 10 AM, Friday, May 11, at Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments from 11 am – 1 PM, Friday, at the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union Street, Bangor, following the service.
