Billerica, MA - Ruth Shapero Chethik, 99, passed away peacefully May 9, 2018. She was born September 16, 1918, in Bangor, the daughter of Max Shapiro and Sarah (Zitaner) Shapero. Ruth enjoyed acting in amateur theatre, interior decorating, art, and eating healthy food. She also had an interest in real estate and obtained a real estate license. Later in life she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She attended the University of Maine. She is survived by two children, Sheila Berman Suozzo of Clifton Park, NY, Karen Berman-Mulligan and her husband, Mike, of Lexington, MA; a granddaughter, Jennifer Albornoz and her husband, Jordi; grandsons, William Suozzo and his wife, Sarah, and Daniel Suozzo; great-grandchildren, Josephine, Cecilia, Ewan Albornoz Mulligan, and Jack Suozzo. She was predeceased by brothers, Abraham Shapiro, Clarence Shapiro, Benjamin Shapero, and Phillip Shapero; a sister, Rosalie Trager, and a son-in-law, Robert Suozzo. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor.
