Bindy Palmer, 62, passed away on June 14, 2018 at the Eastern Maine Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Bindy was born in Bangor on September 5, 1955, the daughter of Leland and Marilyn Brown.
She graduated from Bangor High School and Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. Upon graduation she put her nursing education and compassion to work at the Levinson Center in Bangor. She also worked for Eastern Maine Counseling and Testing as a behavioral consultant working with young people in school districts throughout Maine. Her last place of employment was at Windswept Gardens where she found great joy. She deeply enjoyed all the people she got to work with over the years.
After her mother passed away, Bindy and her sister Denise took care of their brother, the famous Scotty Brown. For 12 years her loving care and devotion to Scott was truly inspirational. He was and is a very happy man.
Bindy was an active member of the Dedham Congregational Church. She was very involved with her beloved church family keeping the food pantry stocked, working the bean suppers and anything else that needed to be done. She was also a loyal member of the Dedham ‘Bunco Girls’ group with whom she loved and shared some of her fondest memories. The family would like to thank their church and Bunco families for their support and love as Bindy’s health declined.
She is survived by her husband Tom Palmer of Dedham with whom she just celebrated 28 years of marriage, her son Tommy Tardiff and his wife Morgan of Holden and their daughters Sophie and Sydney Tardiff, Molly Palmer and her boyfriend Zack El-Hajj of Dedham, her father Leland Brown of Bangor, her sister Denise “Neacy” Shaw and her husband Joe of Bangor and their son Matt of North Carolina, her brother Scott Brown of Hampden, her aunt Dorothy Brown of Veazie and cousins Carolyn Hathaway and Patty Brown and many other extended family with whom she adored. Bindy was predeceased by her son Benjamin Tardiff, her niece Katie Shaw, her mother Marilyn Brown and in-laws Thomas and Mary Ellen Palmer.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 pm Tuesday June 19, 2018 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 am. Wednesday June 20, 2018 with Pastor Linette George officiating. The Palmer Family invites all family and friends to share stories and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. after the service.
