Obituary for Walter Jacob Matthes, III
Walter J. Matthes III, 62, passed away June 22, 2018, at a Boston hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 17, 1955, in Rochester, NY, the son of Walter J. Matthes Jr. and Marilyn A. (Steve) Matthes.
Walter served his country honorably in the in the U. S. Air Force. In his younger years he almost made it into AAA Baseball. He enjoyed fishing, football, bowling, and the New York Yankees. Walter retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Bangor. More than anything Walter loved being a father to his children and a grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Joanne (Marshall) Matthes; children, Joshua Matthes of Minnesota, Nicole M. Matthes of Bangor, Walter J. Matthes IV and fiancé Alyssa Eriksson of Bangor; grandchildren, Caitlin and Mackayla Bryer; and a brother, Mark Matthes.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 6pm to 8pm July 6, 2018 at the Holiday Inn, 404 Odlin Rd. Bangor Me.
