Eugene Berry  Shanley
Bangor - Eugene Berry Shanley, 79, died unexpectedly on August 4, 2018 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born May 29, 1939 in Bangor, the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Pomroy) Shanley Sr.

Eugene was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Class of “59. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. After his honorable discharge from active duty, Eugene continued to serve as a reservist for another 25 years. He was employed as a roofer for over 40 years, with the majority at Bangor Roofing Company. In retirement, Eugene loved traveling and spending time with his wife, Joan, together they camped in every State east of the Mississippi. He was an avid baseball and Red Sox fan. Eugene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Julianna Caulkins and Ellen Melendez. Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan (Caulkins) Shanley of Bangor; two daughters, Katherine MacDonald and her husband, Bruce and their children, Joseph and Robert, of Clifton, and Christine Daniels and her son, Ian of Newburgh; three great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Long; brother, Paul J. Shanley.

A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
