BANGOR – Joseph Chester Boulier Jr., 92, passed away October 12, 2018, at a local hospital. He was born July 21, 1926, in Portage, ME, the son of Joseph C. Boulier Sr. and Angeline (York) Boulier.

Joe attended schools in Portage. Following school, he began a full career in the military, enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II, discharged after three years, and then reenlisting in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Civil Engineer after 20 years of service. After retiring from the military, Joe worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for an additional 20 years. He and his wife, Mary, were longtime parishioners at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Joe enjoyed bowling at Family Fun Lanes, hunting with his good friend, Bob Adams, fishing, golfing, and playing cribbage whenever he could. Joe loved spending time with his large family during holidays and at his camp on Schoodic Lake. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary Joan Boulier; a son, Raymond Boulier; daughter-in-law, Tamara Boulier; and his twelve siblings. He is survived by his children, James Boulier and wife, Brenda of Northport, Gary Boulier and wife, Anne of Port Charlotte, FL, Donald Boulier and wife, Regina of Charleston, Barbara Weatherbee and husband, Kevin of Hermon, Robert Boulier and girlfriend, Frannie Murray of Bangor, and Mark Boulier of Brewer; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Marie Spitaleri, and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor. All in attendance are welcome to share conversation and refreshments in the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass, Thursday. Funeral Prayers and the Rite of Committal will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor, immediately following the reception Thursday.
