Obituary for Alan Charles Bromley

Alan Charles Bromley
HOLDEN - Alan Charles Bromley passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home in Holden, Maine. Alan was born September 18, 1951 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Adele and Irwin Bromley of Jupiter, Florida.

He attended school in Queens, New York and Stamford, Connecticut then graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He married Cynthia Dore-Bromley of Cranston, Rhode Island, and they lived in Trumbull, Connecticut before settling in Holden, Maine and raising children. For the last 38 years, Alan worked at WBRC Architects & Engineers in Bangor, Maine——most recently as Principal, Chief Financial Officer, and Structural Engineer. Alan served on Boards for the town of Holden and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. He was a proud member of Mensa. Alan took great pleasure in his work, listening to classical music, watching sports, walking in nature, exploring Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island, and all aspects of Thanksgiving. He was wise, practical, honest, loyal, resilient, and had a dry—but undeniable—sense of humor. More than anything, he deeply loved his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Alan is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Alexandra Bromley of Boston; his son, David Bromley of Juneau, Alaska; his daughter and son-in-law, Alison Bromley and Steve Siviski of Cumberland, Maine; his brother, Hank Bromley and Hank's wife, Susan Jenkins of Savannah, Georgia; and his beloved cat, Cappuccino. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Bromley of Stamford, Connecticut.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Bangor Arts Exchange at 193 Exchange Street in Bangor, Maine on Monday, August 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Those who wish to remember Alan in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Friends of Acadia or Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Donations to Friends of Acadia can be mailed to 43 Cottage Street, P.O. Box 45, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 or online at https://friendsofacadia.org/tribute-gift. Donations to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra can be mailed to P.O. Box 1441, Bangor, ME 04402 or online at bangorsymphony.org/donate. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
