Obituary

Mikyong “Miki” Kim Albrecht,83, born August 10, 1935 in Pusan South Korea. From a family of five children, three brothers and one sister. Miki passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018.

Survived by husband of 50 years Ronald Lewis Albrecht, CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and retired officer of the United States Air Force, Lieutenant Colonel. Daughter, Rondi Kim Albrecht. Granddaughter Grace Kim Albrecht.

Miki was excellent in sports, specifically relay racing, swimming, bowling and tennis (Trophy winner). She had a wonderful singing voice. She also had a great love for animals (especially the family poodle called Mr. French who became part of the family in Washington DC and the black lab Katahdin that her daughter Rondi brought home). Student of Georgetown University who enjoyed mathematics very much. Miki had over 14 years of schooling and performed as a surgical nurse. Miki was a highly intelligent individual who easily made friends. Miki comes from a business family. Her father owned a rice processing plant/corporation. Her oldest sister owned a fine fabric materials Company and was a real estate proprietor. Her other sister immigrated to the United States and became a caretaker for families. One brother was a wrestler who participated as an athlete in the Olympics in Mexico City. Another brother was in security forces who participated in the protection of one of the presidents for South Korea. Another brother immigrated to the United States and owns a liquor distribution company.

Miki met and fell in love with a United States Air Force officer, Ronald L Albrecht, Lieutenant Colonel retired. Lieutenant Colonel Albrecht had communications equipment located in the hospital facility where Miki was working. Overtime the two fell in love with each other. Ron returned stateside while the two communicated through letters on a daily basis. After more than a year he proposed and they got married. Miki and Ron married on December 31, 1968. Miki emigrated to the United States in 1969 to join at that time Major Albrecht for the next chapter of their lives. Miki became a United States Air Force wife and mother. She was very active in the officers wives club and charity activities. Also finding time to bowl, swim and other activities. Miki was a wonderful mother who cared for her family. Then Lieutenant Colonel Albrecht was transferred during his career to Tennessee, New Mexico, Washington DC and the United Nations Command South Korea and Rome New York where Miki followed with their daughter Rondi. During their assignment to Washington area Miki attended and completed her studies at Georgetown University. In the last few years prior Ron’s retirement from the United States Air Force, Miki and Ron had discussed many times where they were to live in a state with open spaces and friendly people that had natural beauty and the ocean. Once retiring in Bangor Maine, Miki and her husband Ron owned a Financial Planning firm for 34 years. Where she assisted and helped clients achieve their dreams. Mikyong was “one of a kind” who loved God and loved living and loved people and loved being alive and most of all loved her husband, daughter, granddaughter and family. Miki is in her final resting place with her angels and the Lord. She will be remembered by a great number of people who called her their friend. She will be missed dearly by her family.
