Dear Sandy, Michelle, grandchildren, and sisters, Theresa and Collette,
I was saddened to learn of Paul's passing. We grew up in the old neighborhood as best friends. We spent many hours in the summer, riding our bikes and in the evenings listening to our short-wave sets. I always enjoyed playing Monopoly with Paul and Collette. We had fun with endless hours of Risk. I know that Paul had a busy life and after attending his wedding to Sandy, we spent our time raising our kids and devoting ourselves to work. I remember that his parents, Emile and Marie, kept the French language alive in their home and they had wonderful visits from their extended family. As we entered High School and had access to cars, we enjoyed our time bird hunting in the fall. One funny, but not necessarily safe, story involved a small bronze cannon. Paul's dad kept black powder for re-loading. Paul packed the small cannon and prepared to fire, when a stray cat ventured down the alley between the house and the store house. As he lit the fuse, the cannon exploded at the breech, with fragments flying. We were lucky that no one was hurt. I'll always remember the image of the cat, suspended in the air. After a short time the cops made an appearance and I remember my Mom asking if I head a loud bang. Those were times when kids were allowed to be themselves.
