Donna Jean Poirier, 47, died after a brief illness on Friday, May 6, 2022, at a Bangor Hospital.
She was born in Portsmouth, NH on October 17, 1974 the daughter of Joseph Ronald Poirier jr. and Dixie Lee (Books) Poirier. She was the sister of Chris Poirier, “Bubba”, as she loving called him. Chris and Donna always shared a special bond and her love for him was obvious as she would light up anytime Chris walked in the room. They loved Donna so very much, she was the gem in their lives. When help was needed and their circumstances changed they entrusted the Getchell family to take over and care for her. Donna lived with Wayne and Rena Getchell and her family for the last 35 years. They took exceptional care of her, providing her with the love of a family we all wish for.
Donna loved her coffee, rides in the car/boat, being outside with the sun on her face. Sitting by a crackling fire and watching all the kids play. She was loved by everyone who ever met her. Donna was known for her bright blue eyes and infectious smile. A fantastic sister, a great Aunt and a best friend to all walks of life. No matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Donna did while you were with her. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her sweet and spicy sense of humor. She truly brought the life to the party.
Donna is survived by her father Joe Poirier and step mother Sandy Poirier of Florida; her brother Christopher Poirier of Eliot and wife Kelly, and their children; Christopher, Sean, and Veronique. She is also survived by her wonderful caretakers Wayne and Rena Getchell and their entire family- Travis Getchell, Alisha Getchell, Erika and her husband Josh Greer and their children Christian, Brendan, Briana and Nathan, also Shawn Getchell and his wife Leeann Getchell and their children Emma, and Wyatt. Donna is now at peace, joining her mother, Dixie. We are sure that was a beautiful reunion.
There will be a celebration of life gathering from 4-6:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
