Aaron Hartwell

May 15, 1980 — June 16, 2023

ORONO AND BANGOR, MAINE - Aaron William Hartwell, 43, father, husband, and friend, passed away unexpectedly June 16, 2023 at his home in Orono, Maine. He was born May 15, 1980, in Blue Hill, Maine, the son of William C. and Lana C. (Hebert) Hartwell.

Aaron was baptized in Waterville, Maine and served as an altar boy at Saint Mary’s Church in Bangor. He attended the University of Maine and enjoyed many different hobbies: aviation, astronomy, model airplanes, metal detecting, camping, pottery, gardening, gaming and so much more.

Aaron adored his wife, Alexis Dunham, and together they pushed each other to new heights. Their love story began with all odds against them; they lifted each other up and soared. He took pride in their love and accomplishments during their 14 and a half years together.

His greatest accomplishment was becoming a father when Michael was born. And then his heart grew bigger when Asa and Ethan entered his life. Aaron felt honored to be their dad and encouraged all three of his boys to be the best versions of themselves and to make good choices. Aaron worked as an in-home caregiver for his oldest son, Asa and took care of his family’s home. A home in which Aaron and Alexis worked so hard for.
Aaron had the kindest of souls. His calm nature could still any magnitude of storm. If you went to him for some advice, it wouldn’t be long before you were either laughing or feeling some direction found. His intellect was vast but his love and kindness for others was endless.

He remains in spirit with his wife, Alexis and their beautiful children, Asa, Michael and Ethan; his father, Bill Hartwell and his wife, Jackie Hartwell; his sister, Kelly Hartwell; his Mémère, Leta Ryder and her spouse Roger Gautier; mother-in-law, Teresa Hutchinson; step-father, Wayne Leighton, many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends, both on- and off-line. Aaron was predeceased by his loving Mother, Lana Leighton; his Nana, Marita Hartwell; his Pépère, Laurence Hebert; his bonus father-in-law, Edward Hutchinson; and friends that have gone on before him.

A Celebration of Aaron’s Life will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 161 Davis Road Bangor, Maine. Following the service there will be a small gathering at Pine Grove Cemetery, 1350 Hammond St. Bangor, Maine.
