Hudson
Adolph “Artie” Alexander , 84, passed away January 26, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born in Hudson September 29, 1936 the son of Lee F. and Arlene E. (Davis) Alexander, Sr.
He was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1955. After graduation he worked for his father on the farm and in the woods. He was a registered Maine Guide and in the fall with his father and brother he guided the out of state hunters who came up to stay in the camps on the farm. Later he worked for Bean and Conquest as an automatic transmission specialist. Then in 1954 he joined the Air National Guard part time. A few years later he became full time.
In 1957 he married Persis “Patsy” Trundy.
Artie built the family home with lumber that was cut from his father’s wood lot. He moved the family into it in 1960. In 1966 he built the family camp on West Lake with hand cut and carried lumber. After the camp was built the family spent every weekend there.
Artie loved to fish, hunt and snowmobile.
Patsy and he had an active social life between square dancing, eating out and playing cards with family and friends.
In 1987 he retired from the Air Guard and worked for himself doing earth work, cutting firewood, logs and plowing snow.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Alexander and his wife Joellyn, Andrew Alexander and his wife Karen all of Hudson; grandchildren, Ben and Amie, Katey and Sarah; great grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary, Tala and Ian ; sisters, Joyce Karp of Veazie, Irene Hastey and Lois Ann Knowles, both of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Patsy, grandson Sam Alexander, sisters Geraldine Cappola and Mildred Kinens; brother Lee Alexander, Jr.
Spring interment will be in the Mowhawk Cemetery, Hudson.
