Agnes Rhoda Smit of Bar Harbor, Maine, died peacefully in the early morning of February 2, 2023 at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimer’s Care in Bangor, Maine. Of her 6 siblings, her brother Maarten Smit survives. She was born in Johnston, Rhode Island to the late Carel J. and Theodora deSitter Smit on January 2, 1936. She was most known from meeting her while she worked her ovens at her baking businesses in Bar Harbor. She finally retired from her last business, The Bagel Factory in 2015.
A celebration of her life will be planned for October 2023 in Bar Harbor, Maine for her friends, family and people she knew who may want to attend.
