BANGOR – Barbara Malley, 79, passed away Monday November 18, 2013 at a Bangor hospital. She was born September 20, 1934, in Brewer, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (DeCesere) Gilbert. Barbara grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High School in 1954. She was a true entrapaneur and started many business including, Barbies Flowers, MDA Security, Malley Flagging and Safety, and Malley Safety Equipment. She loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. Barbara traveled to Las Vegas many times to see Wayne Newton and was at one time a head coordinator for his fan club. One of her favorite places was Myrtle Beach where she had a family home for many years. She is survived by her husband of over fifty years Lloyd Malley of Bangor,a son Michael Malley and his wife Roxanne of Whitefield, three daughters, Becky Craig and her husband Dan of Bangor, Margaret Martin and her fiancé Kenny Joslin of Bangor, Jodi Council and her husband Troy of Bangor, seven grandchildren, Jason Leighton, Cal Leighton, Nicole Pelkey, Kristina Craig, Morgan, Monica, and Erica Malley, nine great grandchildren, Adrianna “Nani” Council, Natasha Walker, Chase Leighton, Landy Pelky, Kendra Council, Paislee Leighton, Carson Leighton, Kianna Council and Max Gross. She will also be missed by a sister Pauline Dufour and her husband James of Skowhegan, a brother-in-law Ken Malley and his wife Jackie, several nieces and nephews including a special niece Cindy Hojohn, and two special cousins Jerry Mundy and Ricky Gilbert. She was predeceased by a son Steven Leighton in 2004. Friends may call at 12 noon Monday November 25, 2013 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St. Bangor, where a service will be conducted at 1 PM with Pastor Brian Hurst officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
