Alejandro Moreno

July 21, 1928 — July 18, 2019

Alejandro Moreno, known by his loved ones as Lito, died peacefully surrounded by family on July 18, 2019. Born in El Chiru, Panama, to Alejandro and Sebastiana Moreno on July 21, 1928, Alejandro married the love of his life, Elsa, in 1956, and together they made their journey to the United States in 1958 to pursue their American dream. After arriving in the United States with their young son, they planted roots in their new home of Bangor, Maine. Alejandro quickly gained a second family in the Bangor community. He became known as Lito, a nickname given to him by his grandson, to the children in his neighborhood who thought of him as their own.
Lito loved every part of life. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, comfort his loved ones in times of need, and, without a doubt, the first to the dance floor or the dinner table. A lifelong Democrat, he always looked back fondly on his time volunteering for his extended family, especially driving then-Congressman John Baldacci around the state, and sometimes Canada. His democratic values guided him to this country, to a new life, and to a continuum of service to those around him. There are no words to sum up a man like Lito. His life is a reminder that acts of kindness can touch countless lives in deep and profound ways. In his memory, we will always remember that there is room in every day to make someone feel loved. Alejandro is predeceased by his parents, Alejandro and Sebastiana; his wife, Elsa; and his special “son” Paul Baldacci Sr. Alejandro is survived by his loving children, Amy, who provided Alejandro unwavering care in his final years, and husband Tom Cummings; Alex and wife Jean Moreno; Alvin; Alfred and wife Jean Moreno; his grandchildren, Paul Baldacci and wife Hannah; Elise Baldacci and husband Devin Deane; Ryan Cummings; Alfred Moreno Jr.; and his great grandsons, Tate Deane, Otis Deane, and Leo Baldacci. To the strongest, bravest man we’ll ever know, te amo.
A funeral mass will be held on July 24th, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St. Bangor. Those who wish to remember Alejandro in a special way may make gifts in his memory to The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 125 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
