What shall ye do with thy one wild and special life?
Our beloved Alex had the most beautiful and happy smile which he would share readily at any and every opportunity. Despite his unique struggles and daily uncertainties, he lived a life of gratitude, never losing optimism and joy. His sense of humor, his generosity, and his infectious laughter has graced all of us who were lucky enough to know him, and his positivity will be an inspiration for us to carry forward.
If you couldn’t find Alex dealing cards at Hollywood Casino or building on his home, he was often found playing chess, arranging tee times, solving puzzles of every variety, dipping into an ever growing stack of books, exploring the park library or bog walk with his daughter, or planning the next adventure. Alex used both his mathematical mind and his outgoing personality adeptly in the hospitality business at the casino, Margaritas in Orono, and throughout Bar Harbor. A loyal visitor to Fenway, Alex’s Red Sox gear outnumbers his poker chip collection from casinos around the world.
Alex’s fun-loving nature was ubiquitous, and to indulge his wanderlust he had many special excursions to places like Aruba, Antelope Canyon, and most recently to the Easternmost point of the US. On one such travel out of the country he met - by chance - one of his heroes, Big Papi, and they spent an evening together in a bar.
Alex will never be gone from Our Loving Family, which includes his dad Kendall, mum Karla, sisters Meghann and Kate, Kate’s life partner Chris, Meghann’s fiancé Randy and their children Tyler, Aidan, Owen, Lily, and Alex’s most treasured daughter Adalyna, who captured his essence by regularly asking “Daddy, why do you laugh so much?” Alex highly valued the multitude of extended family and friends who greatly enriched his life in a myriad of ways.
A private family service will be held. We invite all who loved Alex or whose lives were touched by him to join us from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Hollywood Casino, 500 Main St., Bangor, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to honor Alex’s memory to Life Flight of Maine , which gave us eleven years and ten days more with him, or to the Brain Injury Association, Maine Chapter.
Alex asked us to “not forget the prime times of laughter and joy, hugs and kisses shared between us as they were as genuine, sincere and as unique as every snowflake descending upon us. The humanity in which we all share is far more important than the deficits in which we may not.”
So as Alex would ask of all of us, ‘what shall ye do with thy one wild and special life?’
