Alice Cote

Alice M. Cote, 76, died peacefully with her boys at her side at EMMC, on January 26, 2022. She was born March 26, 1945 in Rosebud, Texas, the daughter of the late Udell Smilie and Doris (Hopper) Smilie.

After graduating from Milby High School, Alice worked in the service industry while raising her sons in Texas and in Maine. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Richard V. Cote on November 11, 2011.

Alice is survived by her son, James R. Cote and wife Katrina of Levant and their children Ashley, Jack and Tyler; and her son Johnny L. Cote, Sr. of Bangor with his children Katy-Lee, Miranda, Johnny, Jr. and his wife Alexis. Alice did not get to spend as much time with her great-grandchildren Audrina, Laylah, Leah, Sadarah, Stella, Lincoln and Grayson, as she would have liked due to her health, but they will always hold a piece of her heart. Alice had many cousins, nieces and nephews in and around Maine and Texas. Alice enjoyed going fishing up north with Richard and her sons when they were young and would go to all their sporting events whenever she could. Alice had a passion for supporting our Maine Veterans and was a member of the VFW in Hampden for several years prior to being moved to a local nursing home due to her health.

Services and burial in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta alongside Richard will be private. Those who wish to remember Alice in their own special way, and in lieu of flowers, may donate to our local Veterans or The Maine Troop Greeters & Museum Organization.
