York Beach and Bangor – Alice J. McInnis, 82, died unexpectedly and peacefully, December 16, 2018, at the Portsmouth New Hampshire Regional Hospital. She was born April 21, 1936 in Charleston, daughter of Stanley Albert and Edith Marie (Tilton) Trimm. Alice graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1954 and joined Bangor Savings Bank as a switchboard operator in 1961. She moved to teller and from 1962 to 1983, progressed through a number of positions, including, Mortgage and Savings Clerk, Assistant to the President, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Vice-President/Treasurer and Vice-President. Alice was appointed Senior Vice-President/Administration in 1983. She was appointed Clerk of the Corporation in 1986. In 1998 Alice was promoted to Executive Vice-President. June, 2004, she retired from Bangor Savings Bank as EVP/Assistant to the President and a Corporator of Bangor Savings Bank, now Honorary Corporator. Alice attended the Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont School of Banking, participated in the Executive Development School at Fairfield University, and completed a variety of professional development seminars throughout her career with Bangor Savings Bank. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Alice played an active role in a number of civic organizations. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church Development Counsel, Bangor Noontime Rotary, Bangor Mechanics Association, Bangor Fuel Society, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary board member, Penobscot Valley Health Association, and Penobscot Valley Country Club. Alice was a past President and Honorary Corporator of Phillips-Strickland house. She served as a Trustee to the YWCA, now Bangor Y, and an auxiliary member of Norther Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, and a Corporator of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Alice was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

Alice is survived by her son, James F. McInnis, Jr., two Grandsons, Cody J. McInnis, Jeremy Karam and his wife, Jodie, and their children, Preston and Reece; a Granddaughter, Shannon Karam and wife, Katharine Karam, and their daughter, Francesca; Granddaughter, Deanna Karam and her daughter, Necia York and son, Kassius Karam; three sisters, Lorraine Nutbrown, Nathalie Lancaster, and Cheryl Ford and her husband, Peter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Trimm, mother, Marie Trimm, and brother-in-law, Everett Lancaster. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4pm – 7pm, Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11am, Monday, December 24, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the Funeral Mass, on Monday.
