Allison "Britt" W. Wetmore passed away on December 14, 2024, as a result of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born in Bangor, Maine on August 24, 1948, the son of Allison K. and Cecilia A. (Ahearn) Wetmore.
Britt enjoyed golfing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, an occasional Manhattan, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the US Navy, He was stationed in Morocco upon completion of his training. He left the Navy in 1969, returning to Bangor. In 1971, Britt joined the Bangor Police Department where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1991. Missing the military, he joined the US Army Reserves in 1982 before transferring to the Maine Army National Guard in 1985. He left the Maine Army National Guard in 1986, returning to the US Army Reserves. In 1997, he joined the Maine Air National Guard working in Security Forces. In 2008, he retired from Bangor Air National Guard Base, having attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.
Britt is survived by his wife, Tammy of Hampden; daughter, Amanda and her husband, Chaz; and the loves of his life, twin grandsons Cruz and Cohen of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Ron Holmes and his wife, Laurie; sister-in-law, Karen Clukey and her husband, Charles; special nieces, Meghan of Bangor; Aimee and family of Massachusetts; Amber and family of Alabama; one aunt, Carmen Ahearn of Connecticut; special friends, Michael Bassi; Annmarie and Alan Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Britt was predeceased by his parents; brother, Kirk; and sister, Sheila.
The family wishes to express gratitude to St. Joseph’s Hospice, especially Rissa, Nicole, Michele, Priscilla, Melissa, Lori, Stephanie, and Crystal. In addition, thank you is extended to St. Joseph’s Family Medicine, Dr. Joshua Duchene and staff for care and compassion. Special thanks to nieces, Stephanie, Kristine, and Meghan for the support throughout Britt’s journey.
