EDDINGTON – Ann Evangeline (Knox) Kent, 66, bravely finished her amazing journey in life May 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at a Portland hospital. She was born March 3, 1948 in Bangor, the daughter of George M. Knox and Vivian E. (Gusha) Knox.
Ann graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1966 and later in life she returned to Beal College where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. After graduating high school, Ann worked as a Clerk at Bangor City Hall. Throughout the years, she also worked as an Office Manager and Accountant in the shoe industry. While working and raising her family, she generously showed her love of others by knitting mittens for most of the cold hands in Eddington and beyond. Ann enjoyed gardening, crocheting Christmas angels, and mothering anyone who needed their heart lifted. She created special occasions whenever possible to celebrate life. Ann found her life partner in Room One Study Hall at Brewer High School when Ralph Kent intercepted a wink intended for another boy. That moment sparked a 50 year partnership that created a family legacy which Ann cherished every day. Ann’s zest for life revolved around her family and loving others.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Kent; two daughters, Laurie Easton and her husband, John, Lisa Wallace and her husband, Rick; two special nephews, Ryan and Ron Rogers. Also surviving are her brother, Rodney Knox and his wife, Sandy; her sister, Anita Rogers and her husband Ray. Ann is also survived by special in-laws, George Kent and his wife, Brenda, Marilee Harding, Charles and Joyce Kent. She treasured her relationships with her many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by a brother, Leroy W. Knox.
In keeping with Ann’s wishes, a graveside service will be held 11am Monday June 2, 2014 at the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Route 9, Eddington with Pastor Linette George presiding. The family invites relatives and friends to celebrate her life immediately following the service at Comins Hall in Eddington. Those who wish to remember Ann in a special way may do so by paying kindness forward toward family, strangers, and any (or all) of God’s creation.
