Ann Spencer

December 6, 1938 — November 13, 2016

Milford - Ann Francis (Wentworth) Spencer, daughter of Isabelle (Mogan) and Ralph E. Wentworth, was born on December 6, 1938. A devoted member of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, she entered Heaven's gates on November 13, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Ann was a caregiver. After raising her five teenage children alone, she later became the go-to babysitter for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cared for her mother during the last fifteen years of her life. Ann will also be remembered by her friend Polly, whom she looked after for the last five years. Ann was well known for her baking. Her Whoopie pies were revered by many and were a staple at familygatherings. Holidays often centered around her cooking: Fish chowder, boiled dinner, and the ever present Swiss Roll at Christmas. Whether it was her spaghetti sauce, pies, or her wide array of salads, there was never a shortage of comfort food or love when it came to Ann. She was a plank member of OPN alongside Isabelle, Polly, and Franklin. The weekly supper has been enjoyed religiously every Tuesday, at times feeding up to 20 family, friends, and friends of friends. Ann is survived by her sisters Mary Miller of North Carolina and husband Larry, Barbara Butterini of Las Vegas and husband Ron. She will be greatly missed by her children, Shirley Brissette of Old Town and husband Jon, James Spencer of Glenburn and wife Leslie, Edward Spencer of Monmouth and wife Brenda, Donald Spencer Jr. of Hermon and wife Lori, and Ann Marie Wheeler of Eddington and husband Dan; grandchildren Audrey Slade and husband Wayne Slade Jr., Christopher Brissette and wife Nikki, Justine and J. Spencer, Stephanie Merrill and husband Clayton, Sierra, Robbie, and Tori Spencer, Gretchen and Madison Spencer, Danny Wheeler and wife Kim, and Nicky Wheeler, as well as her great-grandchildren Alyssa Slade and Brooke Brissette as well as her many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her parents.
