Ann M. (Sullivan) Winkler, 86, wife of the late Paul M. Winkler Sr., passed away peacefully in her sleep, December 16, 2018 at her home. She was born in Boston, MA. October 4, 1932, daughter of Daniel J. and Anna M. (Flynn) Sullivan.
Ann married her husband Paul in 1953 at St. Mary’s Church, Charlestown, MA.
Shortly after they married they moved to Wisconsin to further his career. Then back to Boston, on to Millinocket and finally settling in Bangor where she raised their six children.
Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker and was devoted to raising her family and nurturing her children into adulthood. Ann had a warm and friendly personality and was loved by all who knew her. She was always interested in the lives of her extended family and friends, of which there were many. She will be truly missed and fondly remembered.
Surviving are six children, Paul Winkler, Jr. and his wife Jan, Stephen Winkler, Julie McDonald and her husband Bernard, Robert Winkler, David Winkler and his wife Susan, Anne Marie “Anna” Winkler; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Barrera and her husband Oscar, Sarah Small and her husband Aaron, Bernard McDonald, Jr. and his wife Alexandra, Gregory McDonald, Daniel McDonald, Juliana McDonald, Roberto Winkler, Heather Winkler, Jessica Winkler; four great grandchildren; Ozara and Charles Barrera, Christopher Small and Piper McDonald; one brother Robert Sullivan; four sisters Eileen Kelley, Margaret Watts, Helen Cotter and Judy Burns; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by six brothers Daniel, Albert, Edward, John, Gerald and William Sullivan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 4 to 7 pm. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am. Thursday December 27, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor following the services.
