BREWER – Annie A. Knapp, 95, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2019. She was born on February 10, 1924 in Talmadge, ME to Carl R. and Voigt (Williams) Metcalf.
Following graduation from Princeton High School in 1942, Annie attended a business college in St. Stephen, NB, Canada and subsequently worked as a clerical employee for Dead River Co. and for Knapp’s Book and Music Store of Bangor. She married Lester in 1948.
Annie enjoyed walking, reading, cooking, Bible study, and listening to music. She especially enjoyed playing the piano and organ, accompanying herself and her husband as they sang Christian songs. In addition, she was known for wonderful home-baked pies and careful attention to her dress and home-making.
In addition to her loving husband, Annie was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Owen. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters, Laurel Larson and husband, Vernon, and Andrea Gross and husband, William; grandchildren, Lauren Davis and husband, Daniel, Andrew Young and wife, Kari, Justin Larson and wife, Katie, and Amanda Dugre and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Logan and Lainey Young, and Wyatt and Levi Davis. Each one was well-aware of her dedication to Jesus and of her deep affection for and interest in every family member, all of whom were so precious to her. Surviving cousins and friends will remember her sunny disposition as well.
An announcement of Annie’s graveside service will appear in the newspaper in the late spring of 2020. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer with the Rev. Norm Labonte, officiating. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
