Bangor – Annie L. (Staples) Mower, 72, passed away May 18, 2014 at a Brewer health care center. She was born May 6, 1942, in Orland, the daughter of the late Albert D. and Helenor E. (Hooper) Staples. Annie grew up in Orland and graduated from Bucksport High School in 1960. She worked at Eastern Maine General Hospital when her family moved to Bangor. Annie is predeceased by her loving husband Donald L. Mower, and her sister Helen Staples. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, and working beside her husband on the Mower Family Farm. Annie also liked playing cards, having yard sales, and getting together with family. She leaves behind two children, David Mower and his wife, Christine, of Goffstown, N.H., and Diana Holland and her husband, Michael, of Hampden; four grandchildren, Shiela Nevells, Brittany Holland, Colin Mower, and Elizabeth Mower; a great-grandson, Lukas Elliott. Annie will also be remembered by two siblings, Ruby Gourley and her husband, Richard, of Bucksport, and Edmund Staples, of Apopka, FL; nieces and nephews. A Christian Service of Remembrance lead by Father Scott Mower will be held 2:00pm Wednesday May 21, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor. Friends may call from 1:00pm until time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
