Anthony Smen

March 16, 1938 — May 26, 2022

Anthony Smen Jr., 84, of Carmel, died May 26th, 2022, at a local nursing home after a brief illness. Born on March 16, 1938, to parents Anthony and Blanche (Gruska) Smen.
After high school, Anthony spent four years in the Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic. He then went to work for his father in-law, Burrs Shell and Tony's Amoco. He then went to work for the City of Bangor as a Mechanic. The last job he retired from was Unifirst as a Mechanic/ Engineer. In his later years in the company, he traveled the country where he built, rehabbed, and inspected many of the buildings and all the equipment for the company. When he retired he was known as Mr. Unifirst. Tony could fix build and refabricate anything. Tony liked to watch football, baseball and Nascar. He could cook and bake things you didn't think you could eat. Tony loved to hunt and fish. Tony loved to and would volunteer to help anyone in need, willing to give the shirt off his back. He was a life member of BPOE Elks 244 and the Eagles Club where he loved playing cards with his dear friends. Tony will be sadly missed by many.
Survived by his sons; Tony Smen, Greg Smen; his daughter, Terri Smen; his step-sons; Danny and Timothy Monaghan; his brothers; James Smen and wife, Sandi, and Steve Smen and wife Carla, of Pennsylvania; many grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Tony had a very special dear friend, Martha Smith, and loved her and her family. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his step-mother, Jane Smen; his wife, Georgia
Vardarmis Smen; his son, Micheal Smen; and his ex-wife, Deborah Burr Smen.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at 1PM at the Highland Cemetery in Carmel Maine. Condolences to the family may be made at Brookingssmith.com.
