Barbara (Bartley) Baude Dow
Barbara died peacefully after a brief illness on December 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Fort Fairfield to Charles (Gene) Bartley and Ruth (Grant) Delano on December 20, 1949. She was raised by Gene and her beloved mother Gemma (Ouellette) Bartley in Caribou. She attended Caribou High school and graduated in 1968. She has continued to remain very close with several of her high school girlfriends, going on their annual “girl” trips.
After moving to Bangor, she met and married her first love, Anthony (Tony) Baude on December 31, 1971. They were married for 28 years, raising their children in the Bangor area, until Tony’s passing in 2000. In 2014 Barbara reconnected with her childhood friend, Robert (Bob) Dow. They quickly fell in love and were married on July 4, 2015. She and Bob happily spent their retirement days together, winters in Florida and summers in Maine.
Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the theater, her favorite show being “Jersey Boys” which she was proud to say she’d seen 11 times. She also loved Disney World and spent much time there when she and Bob were in Florida. The Tower Ladies of Calvary Baptist Church held a special place in Barbara’s heart. Most of all, Barbara loved her time with family. Every occasion was easily turned into a family affair.
Barbara will always be remembered for her kind, gentle soul that radiated over everyone she met. Barbara was a true lady.
In addition to Tony, Barbara was predeceased by her father, Gene.
In addition to Bob, Gemma and Ruth she is survived by her three children: Kimberly (Baude) Bennett and her husband Jeff of Portland; sons Michael Baude and his wife Stacy of Bangor; and Timothy Baude of Winterport; five grandchildren, Jacob, Jaron, Jonah, Madi and Carly; her extended family Rhonda and Carl Willoughby and their daughter Shauna Brown of Bangor, along with Shauna’s three boys to whom she was Grammy Barb; her Aunt Lois McCormack of Lincoln; and sister-in-law, Elaine (Baude) Lauria of Wallingford, CT; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Barbara’s hospice nurse, Carissa, of Northern Lights Health.
