Barbara Dorr

August 14, 1961 — November 20, 2020

Bangor – Barbara A. Dorr, 59, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at her home surrounded by her three children. She was born August 14, 1961 in Bangor, the daughter of Donald and Letha (Wentworth) Dorr.

Barbara spent much of her youth competing in horse shows throughout Eastern and Central Maine with her wonderful pony, Blaze. Together they won many ribbons and trophies. During this time Barbara built some enduring friendships especially with the Durant and Lutterell families of The LSD Ranch in Brownville.

She graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1979.

Barbara had the most giving soul and never made anyone feel as though she wanted to be given anything in return. Even in her job, where she worked hard as a CNA, she gave her everything to her patients to make them feel important and even supported her coworkers, who would later on become some of Barbara’s most treasured friends.

Of all the special roles Barbara played in many lives, becoming a Granny was her most favorite role. She loved those kids with her whole being, she lived their fun and innocence with them and beamed bright even when just talking about them. They say most things aren’t about quantity but quality, and although her grandchildren deserved a lifetime with their Granny, the time they did get was nothing short of memorable and amazing.

Barbara was predeceased by her father, Donald Dorr, mother, Letha (Wentworth) Dorr and baby brother, Bobby Dorr.

She is survived by her three children, sons, Michael Kelley and his wife, Kristin of Glenburn, and Timothy Kelley and his fiancée, Mackenzie of Bangor; daughter, Kaitlyn Kelley and Fiancé, Bradley of Levant; their father, her ex-husband, Mike Kelley of Clifton; 3 grandchildren who were the loves of her life, Sophia, Wyatt, and Lily; two brothers, Donald Dorr and his wife, Crystal, of Norridgewock, and Danny Dorr of Hermon; as well as many nieces and nephews who were like her own children and many friends who were more like family.

Barbara touched so many peoples lives (and their butts). She was special to all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
