Bangor - Barbara Jean Houston died unexpectedly on November 3, 2022. Barbara was born on September 22, 1953, to Raymond and Louise (Miles) Houston in Bangor, Maine. She graduated from Central High School, East Corinth, Maine, class of 1970 and Bangor Community College with a Liberal Arts Degree.
Barbara became a self-taught culinary professional chef, and worked for many years at prestigious restaurants within Maine.
Her interest in the arts, architecture, and design led her to choose a second profession in real estate. In 1995 she started taking real estate classes, joining ERA Dawson Bradford Realtors in 1996. Barbara worked diligently representing all her clients. She was a member of the Mid-Coast Board of Realtors, Maine Commercial Association of Realtors, and the Professional Standards Committee. Barbara served on the GBAR Board of Directors from 2010 - 2014, and president of the association in 2013. She volunteered many hours during her memberships.
She was a helping hand, when ever needed, and always gave freely to her friends, family and peers. Barbara was an avid reader, trivia buff, and lover of cats. Her warmth, great sense of humor, and integrity was a gift she shared with many.
Barbara is survived by sisters, Mary Rogers, Ruth (John) Wert, Ruby (Frank) Houston-Woytowich, Helen (Norman) Houston-Clough; and brother, Raymond Houston. Her nieces and nephews thought she was a very "cool" aunt. She was predeceased by her mother, father, sister, Althea Houston; and her loving husband, Thomas (Tom) Conroy.
