December 25, 1926 — May 29, 2015

Barbara Gene (Corey) Mallonee, 88, died in Bangor, May 29, 2015. She was born in Augusta, Kansas December 25, 1926, the daughter of Bruce Lincoln Corey and Janet Eugenia (Curtis) Corey, both of Winona, MN.

Barb graduated from Bennington College in 1949, with her BA Degree in Liberal Arts (Modern Dance) and from Wichita State University in 1977 with her BFA in Painting and Drawing. Barb also worked in real estate, and continued her art painting in oils and watercolors.

Barb married Robert Eugene Mallonee of Wichita, KS on November 22, 1952. The marriage ended in divorce in 1981, but the relationship was sustained through a shared delight in their children’s and grandchildren’s lives until Bob’s death in 2007.

Barb was a member of the Episcopal Church in Wichita, KS, Castine and Bangor. She was a member of the Junior League of Wichita, Chapter B Maine P.E.O. Sisterhood, and various other arts and social groups.
Barb was an artist in dance, paint, friendship and parenting. She lived life fully, she read difficult books, she faced life’s hardest issues directly, and she came out cheerful, faithful, and strong.
