Barbara Mingo

November 30, 1954 — June 9, 2024

Barbara A. (Green) Mingo, 69, passed at home surrounded by family on June 9th, 2024, after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 30, 1954, in Bangor Maine, the daughter of Charles and Florence Green.

She attended Bangor High School in 1971, and it was at this time that she met the love of her life, Gerald. They married in 1972, had three children and celebrated 52 years of marriage in March of this year.

Barbara loved her family tremendously. Her grandchildren were her whole world. She loved to watch them grow and excel in academics, sports, careers and in life. She was their biggest fan at their sporting events, always there with words of encouragement and there was nothing that she wouldn't do for them.

She loved the ocean, the feel of the sun on her face, her feet buried in the warm sand. She loved brightly colored flowers surrounding the house in spring and planting sunflowers with her grandkids. She loved kayaking across the lake, snuggling in and watching the NY Giants play and just being with her family.

Barbara worked for many places throughout her lifetime, but before retiring she spent several years working in the health care system as a Community Integration worker with adults. She was a fierce advocate for her clients and went above and beyond to help them meet their needs.

Surviving in addition to her husband Gerald (Mingo), are her children Lori Mingo and significant other Tim Tremble of Bangor; Brent Mingo of Bangor; Amanda O'Donnell and her husband Chris of Brewer. Five grandchildren, Stacey, Logan, Brody, Madison and Michael. Two sisters, Cathy Conard and husband Scott of Brewer, Carol Jenkins of Glenburn and one brother, Charles Green and wife Patty of Apopka Fl; Many nieces and nephews. Many wonderful friends, including a very special friend Linda. Barbara was predeceased by her mother Florence, father Charles and sister Brenda.

Barbara was so incredibly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone. Her smile lit up the room, she was always the life of the party and the center of every holiday, every family function. Her kindness touched so many. There will be a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
