Barrie G. Richardson, 70, of Hampton, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly on November 15, 2016, at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Barrie was born April 15, 1946, in Castine, Maine, the son of the late Alard H. and Arlene G. (Nevells) Richardson.
Barrie grew up in Hermon, Maine, graduated from Hermon High School in 1964, and then joined the National Guard. He later moved to Hampton, NH, and was the owner-operator of Richardson Trucking. He serviced many fish processing companies in New England for 40 years, taking pride in customer service. Barrie and his later in life partner, Kathleen Scanlon, also of Hampton, New Hampshire, spent their free time at her cottage on Lake Winnipesauke in the summer and vacationed in Venice, Florida, in the winter. Barrie greatly enjoyed fishing, and was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. He enjoyed being surrounded by good friends and close family, and was loved and respected by everyone he encountered.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Everett and Gertrude Nevells, and his parents Alard and Arlene (Nevells) Richardson.
In addition to his life partner, Kathleen Scanlon, Barrie is survived by his six siblings and their spouses; Patsy and Beverly Overlock of Hermon, Alan and Sandra Dorr of Hermon, Gail and Louis Doughty of Hermon, Timothy and Brenda Richardson of Hermon, Muriel and Gene Moyers of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Susan and Dennis Braley of Davenport, Florida. He is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Richardson, of Melbourne, Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Mon, Nov. 21, 2016, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, Maine.
