Bernard Quinn

November 13, 1929 — June 9, 2014

GLENBURN – Bernard Frank Quinn, 84, husband of the late Florence (Clark) Quinn, his loving wife of 52 years, died peacefully at his home June 9, 2014. He was born Nov. 13, 1929 in Glenburn, son of Frank Lester and Alice (Stilphen) Quinn.

Bernard was a graduate of Bangor High School and served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, then became a Seabee in the Navy. He retired as CPO in the Navy after serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Bernard also retired from Coca-Cola in 1989 after 30 plus years of service. He devoted his life living and teaching his family about camping, fishing and hunting. He loved sharing stories and his knowledge of the State of Maine and its history. Bernard was always willing to lend a hand or advice to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his children, Katherine Quinn of Bangor, Terri Gralinski and her husband, Fred of Coventry, RI, James Quinn and his significant other, Debbie Adams of Hermon, Timothy Quinn and his wife, Julie of Hudson, Sue Bernardini of East Millinocket and Janette Giles and her husband, Shane of Winterport. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom he greatly adored, as well as his siblings, Allan, Ronnie, Leonard, Lester, Sandra, Sylvia and Celia; many nieces and nephews. Bernard will also be sadly missed by his loving companion, Lorraine Smith. In addition to his wife Florence, he was predeceased by siblings, Mabel, Dana, Ann and Rose.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bernard will be held 12 noon Friday, June 13, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone presiding. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street immediately following the service Friday.
