Bertha Jackson

May 21, 1923 — April 24, 2015

Bertha E. Jackson, 91, died April 24, 2015, surrounded by her devoted and loving family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 21, 1923, in Liberty the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Howes) Millay.

Bertha graduated from Walker High School in Liberty. There are many wonderful memories at camp along Lake St. George playing cards and gathering with all the family. In her early years Bertha enjoyed square dancing with her husband and friends. She was a perfectionist when it came to keeping her home clean and she would often be found cleaning. More than anything her family was her life, enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son and wife, Ron Jackson and Sheila of Liberty; her daughter and husband, Joanne and Michael Arbuckle of Hampden; two brothers, Clyde Millay of Washington, Wilbur Millay of Hope; four grandchildren, Robin and her husband, Scott Seymour, Shellie and her husband, Erik Tourtillotte, Andy Jackson, and wife Julie, and Tracey Jackson and fiancé, Dan Leeman; six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Kobie, Logan, Alexis, Gavin, and Reid; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Roland L. Jackson in 2008, two brothers, George and Arnold, and sisters, Arabelle Knight and Marguerite Benner.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Monday, April 27, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Rev. Scott Benner, officiating. Friends may call from 12 PM, Noon, Monday, until the time of the service. Interment will be following the service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the interment at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
