Hampden – Bert L. LeRiche,72, husband of Carmella (Levesque) of Old Town for 52 years, died September 4, 2015 after a very long illness with his wife and daughter, who would not leave his side; as well as many of his family members. He was born January 5, 1943 in Old Town the son of Alfred “Freddie” and Lidia LeRiche.
Bert was schooled in Old Town where he played football. He served in the United States Army reserve for 6 years and was a life time member of the rifle club. Bert was self employed for 30 years until going to work for General Electric where he stayed until he became ill in 2000. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Alfred LeRiche Jr. Bert is survived by his wife Carmella; daughter Tammy “LeRiche” Loring and her husband Joe, of Indian Island; two grandchildren, Alice and Neil Day; great-granddaughter, Ciara Day who has been the apple of his eye since she was born 10 years ago; his sister Jackie Crouse; his sister-in-law Maggie Shorette who was there to help out very often; brothers-in-law, Richard and Paul “Manny” Levesque who were very close to his heart; we also have to mention Judy Robinson who also was so dear to him, for they loved giving his wife a hard time. One was as bad as the other. His wife’s family who he lived with since he was sixteen and they thought so much of him. Carmella’s mother thought of him as her own son. All the rest of the family meant as much, just too many to mention. He wanted to thank the Hampden Paramedics and Police departments. They have been so great to him; words could never express his feels for them. No matter how sick he was, he was their “Joker”, Hospice of Eastern Maine, Dr. Vankurt, and everyone for their loving care. A memorial gathering will be held 1:00pm Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Carmella’s house, with Joe Dunton sharing words and prayers of remembrance.
