BANGOR - Betsy Jane (Hull) Boyce, 56, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 8, 2019 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Norwich, NY on April 7, 1963 to Richard Ayre Hull Jr. and Mary Jane Hull. The family moved to Bangor when Betsy was 2, and she spent most of her life in the Queen City. Family and friends affectionately dubbed her “the Mayor,” because she seemed to know everyone and a good friend to so many. Betsy graduated from Bangor High School in 1981 and from Husson University in 1986. She married Nathan “Nate” Boyce in 1986, sharing great love and affection for 33 years. In addition to dear Nate, she is survived by their two beloved children, Mary Jane and Hunter, in whom she took such pride and found so much joy. She loved her family more than anything. Betsy will be dearly missed by her siblings Richard “Rick” Ayre Hull III and wife Barbara, Margaret “Missy” Hull Winchell and husband Timothy, and David Woods Hull and wife Pam; by her cousins and her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and by the Boyce family. Aunt Bea fully loved and enjoyed her extended family, keeping them close to her heart and delighting in the many fun times they shared. In addition to her parents, BJ was predeceased by her cherished brother Charlie Hull, who was in her heart every day and was there in the end to take her into his loving arms.
An ultimate sports fan, Betsy cheered for her beloved Rams, Bangor Little League teams, all the Boston teams, and the Husson and Endicott College teams where her children played sports. She created strong friendships and enriched the lives of her children’s teammates and their families, who all became family to her. Betsy worked at many places in Bangor but found her true calling at LLBean, where she excelled at customer relations and problem-solving and nurtured an extended family among her co-workers. They were so special to her, especially her best friend, caregiver, chauffeur, encourager, and shopping buddy Eileen Marchini. Her family is so appreciative of Eileen’s special and enduring love and support.Betsy was an inspiration to all and will be missed by so many. A celebration of Betsy’s life will be held 3:30 pm Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor, followed by a reception at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
