BANGOR – Betty L. Davis, 91, passed away peacefully, August 11, 2022. She was born October 19, 1930, in Woburn, Massachusetts, the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Spracklin) Layman.
Betty’s family moved to Shirley, Maine in the mid 1930’s. She graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1949. Following graduation, she married Robert A. Davis, in September 1949. They settled in Bangor and were together until his death in December, 2007. Betty and Bob raised two sons. She worked at and retired from Coles Express. After retirement, she volunteered at the Coles Land Transportation Museum for several years. Betty and Bob had also spent their winters in Tucson, Arizona throughout their retirement, until 2016.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her six siblings. Surviving, are her children, Glenn Davis and his wife, Elizabeth, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Gayle; grandchildren, Charlotte Davis, Jonathan Davis and his wife, Ashley, Lauren Jones and her husband, Josh, Daniel Davis and his wife, Megan, Ashley Davis, and Megan Doane; great-grandchildren, Crew Robert and Cecelia Mae, whom were her pride and joy, in her final days; sisters-in-law, Elaine Layman and Frances Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service. Interment will be held 2:30 p.m., later that day, at Shirley Cemetery, Shirley Mills.
