BEULAH GERTRUDE (Ireland) DELONG

Beulah G. (Ireland) Delong, 99, a longtime resident of Maine and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on November 5, 2015 at HealthPark Care Center in Ft Myers Florida. Beulah was born on August 27, 1916, in Castle Hill ME, to Elbert and Effie Ireland. On New Year’s Eve 1938, she married the love of her life, Rodney Allen DeLong. They were blessed with three children, Robert, Darrell, and Sandra. In addition to raising her family, Beulah worked hand in hand with her husband over the years in several business endeavors until their retirement in 1978 when they moved to Leisure City, FL. In 2000 she moved to Ft Myers, FL to be closer to her family.
Beulah was a devout Catholic and very involved with her church. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and volunteering at local hospitals and nursing facilities. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. In addition to being a wonderful mother and grandmother, she was loved for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit which endeared her to everyone she met. She was also the beloved Matriarch of a large extended family.
She is survived by her son Darrell, his wife Linda, and their two daughters, Deborah (DeLong) Shea and Donna (DeLong) Green and their families; her daughter Sandra Conrad, her husband John, their daughter Laurie (Dionne) Babcock and her family; as well as her daughter-in-law Priscilla DeLong, her son Michael, daughter Karen, and their families.
Although she was the oldest of 10 children, she was preceded in death by all 9 of her siblings; her husband Rodney in 1993; and her eldest son Robert in 2008.
A celebration of Beulah’s life will be held at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main St. Brewer, ME on June 25th, 2016 at 11Am and will be followed by an internment service in Presque Isle Maine.
