Brewer and Campobello Island, NB—Beverly L. Robbins, 87, died May 5, 2014 at the Veteran’s Home in Bangor, surrounded by her family after suffering a stroke. She was born Nov. 27, 1926.
Beverly grew up in Wilson’s Beach, on Campobello Island, where she graduated in the first class of Campobello Island High School in 1944. She graduated from St. Croix Commercial College in 1948. She worked as a bookkeeper for Connors Brothers on Deer Island, NB, J.J. Newberry in Calais, ME, The St. Croix Courier in St. Stephen, NB and University Press of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB (Publisher of The Daily Gleaner).
Beverly married Wallace (Wally) Robbins May 12, 1956. They met in Fredericton at The Brunswick Street Baptist Church and would have been married 58 years May 12th.
Beverly was an active member of Columbia Street Baptist Church, for 58 years where she worked in the library, taught vacation bible school, participated on various committees and was a member of the Ruth Harris Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the “Thursday Club” at the University of Maine since 1966.
Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Leonard Hillman Daggett and Maxine (Mathews) Daggett, one sister M. Rosamond Mitchell, three brothers-in-law; Sheldon (Buddy) Mitchell, Gerald Robbins and Louis Robbins. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Wallace C. Robbins, one son Donald H.W. Robbins and his wife Lisa of Vassalboro, one daughter Janet S. Robbins of Brewer, one Granddaughter Danielle D. Robbins of Vassalboro, two sisters-in-law; Marjory (Robbins) Lalime and Maxine (Gray) Robbins, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday May 8, with Rev. Dr. Stan Moody and Rev. Dr. Foster Williams officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brooking-Smith, 163 Center Street immediately following the service Thursday. Interment will be at 2pm Friday May 9, at the Chadwick Hill Cemetery, Route 32, S. China (across from Erskine Academy).
