Beverly Smith

November 14, 1924 — July 30, 2013

Beverly Fletcher Smith, 88, went home to the loving arms of his LORD on Tuesday, July, 30, 2013, at a Dover-Foxcroft healthcare facility, surrounded by his family. He was born November 14, 1924, in Milo, to Lavern and Florence (Fletcher) Smith.
He loved working in the garden, fishing, hunting and working with the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for 42 years. He also loved sports. He was the first golfer to play on the Hermon Meadows Golf Course when it first opened. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He and Marilyn enjoyed their retirement in Florida each winter. He was a member of the Hermon Baptist Church. All those that knew him couldn’t help but love him.
He is survived by the love of his life of 65 years, Marilyn, daughter, Kathy and Charlie Overlock of Hermon, three sons, Larry and Nancy Smith of Milo, David and Diana Smith of Ocala, FL, and Matt Smith and girlfriend Arline Emerson of Hermon. Sister, Pauline Albee of Guilford, brother, Wayne and Janet Smith of NH. First and special granddaughter Lisa Yoder and boyfriend Mike Smith, Angie and Tom Barnett, Kara and Dave Wittmer, Jeryme and Joanna Smith, Kelley and Greg Dean, Laura and Wally Gogan, Kevin Smith, Scott and Heather Smith, Eric Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Lynn Fitzpatrick, Jamie Fitzpatrick, and Muriel Emerson. Great-Grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua Yoder, Thomas and Dylan Barnett, Colby and Torria Wittmer, Taylor Smith, Aleah and Ava Dean, Wyatt and Hailey Gogan, Taylor, Austin, Alyssa and Tyeler Smith, Maddie McDougall, Kaleigh Fitzpatrick and Claira Rose Sanders. Also, many nieces and nephews. Bev was predeceased by his parents, sisters Annabelle Titcomb and Shirley Clukey, and brother Gerald.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of the Hilltop Manor for the excellent care and love shown to Bev. for his time there.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, August, 3 at Hermon Baptist Church, where a celebration of his life will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Garnett Chute and Pastor Cleo Winningham, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church dining hall following the service.
