PALMYRA – Billy D. Wheeler II, 62, passed away unexpectedly, March 19, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Denver, Col., June 28, 1953, the son of Carlos R. Baker and Constance (Wentworth) Wheeler Baker.
Billy graduated from Messalonskee High School in Oakland, ME and then went on to Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He joined the US Navy in 1972, and retired after 24 years as a Chief Petty Officer in 1996.
Billy was very interested in computer technology. He enjoyed woodworking and was often in the middle of many home improvements.
Billy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nadine R. (Tardif) Wheeler; sister, H. Bonnie Brown of Oakland; brother, Stephen R. Buker and wife, Emma of Umatilla, FL; sister, Bobbi Jo Welsh and husband, Scott of Gorham, NH; aunt, Beverly Wentworth Schafron of Hartland; brothers in law, Dana Tardif and wife, Debi of Hampden, Dennis Tardif and wife, Juanita of Waverly, TN, Donald Tardif and wife, Sue Ellen of Cheyenne, WY; sisters in law, Nancy Toothaker and husband, Greg of Sabattus, and Nannette Tardif of Cheyenne, WY; mother in law, Mary Ann Tardif of Hampden; as well as his nieces and nephews, Torrey, Barrett, Nick, Emma, Scott, Brooke, Michael, Scott, (godson) Sean, Benji, (goddaughter) Tracey, Dee Shannon, Julia, Sara, Kali, Lindsey, Josh, Alex, and Malanie; many loved great nieces and nephews; and his surviving Amigos, Gregory Raines and Bruce Thompson. In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by his brother, Maurice Wheeler, and father in law, Gerald Tardif.
Services for Billy will be held 10 am, Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Chapel of Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
