BANGOR - Blanche Evelyn Moylen, 81, joined her loved ones in Heaven on the morning of May 24, 2019 at home in her sleep after a period of declining health.
She was born to Nellie McTague and Lester Gray on June 11th, 1937. She grew up in Dedham and attended Brewer High School. She was married to (the late) Ed MacDonald and they had 5 sons, Brian, Ricky, Brett, Edward “Skip”, and Michael. Later in life she married (the late) Fred Moylen and owned a farm in Swanville where they raised sheep and she worked as a CNA.
In 2002 Blanche suffered a stroke during surgery that left her wonderful personality in-tact but confined to a wheelchair. Her sons have all been close to her over the years and helped with the struggles she met with her health. Her main caregiver over the years was her son, Ricky, he lived with her and tended to her daily needs so she could remain at home where she loved to be.
Blanche was a sweet and kind person that always put others first before herself. She loved her family immensely and to know her was to love her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was always there for them with a hug. Her family and friends will miss her easy laugh, sense of humor, and gentle personality. She loved animals, flowers, birds, and especially her cat, Spooky.
In addition to her sons, and daughters-in-law, Phyllis, Shirley, and Cheryl; Blanche is survived by her brothers, Milo, Leland, Lester (Jr.), and Warren Gray; her grand and great-grandchildren, Autumn MacDonald/Westen, Keenan MacDonald, Norman and wife, Lindsey Lowery/Peyton; sister-in-law, Melody, and her children, along with many neices, nephews, and extended family who Blanche cherished and loved dearly. We would also like to give special thanks to her nurse, Lola of 18 years at Eastern Maine Healthcare.
In addition to her parents, Blanche was predeceased by her brothers, Roy, and Horace Gray; sisters-in-law, Claire, Lois, Charlotte; and her nephews, Wayne, Bobby, and Danny Gray.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett Officiating. Interment at Central Cemetery in Dedham, Allen Road, Dedham, will follow the service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a reception following burial at the Dedham Church on Route 46, Dedham where loved ones are encouraged to gather in celebration of Blanche's life and to share memories.
