Orrington - Bonnie McLauchlan Cone, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and daughter, passed away at a local Bangor hospital on February 9, 2025.
Bonnie was the daughter of John and Helen McLauchlan. She was born on October 5, 1938, in Houlton, ME.
She attended Houlton public schools, Westbrook Junior College, and Ricker College. Her shenanigans started at an early age, and kept her friends, parents, and grandparents wondering what to do with her.
In 1959 she married Arthur Cone, and they moved to Portland Maine where they started their life together and where their son John was born. After Arthur graduated from Southern Maine Vocational Technical College, they relocated to Brewer, Maine, where their daughter Susan was born. They again relocated, to Orrington where she would spend the rest of her life.
Bonnie was a substitute teacher for many years in the Brewer and Orrington school systems. This allowed her to touch many young people's lives, but still have time to be a devoted wife and mother, and keep an immaculate household and beautiful flower gardens. Bonnie was deeply involved in the East Orrington Congregational Church and held several positions there over the years.
Bonnie will best be remembered for being devoted to her family and friends. She was forever doing for others. Her greatest gifts to her family were arranging or hosting family adventures and meals. Family and friends were the most important part of her life, and she made sure those around her were cared for and listened to, And yes, the shenanigans continued up to the very end.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, son John, brother Tom and nephew Tyler.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Arthur; daughter, Susan and her husband, Steve McEachern; granddaughter, Meghan and her husband, Ben, their children, Joey, Lukas, Rylan, Ellie, Micah, and Nikolas Smith and her granddaughter, Cecelia and her husband, Ben and their daughter, Maisie Walton; sister-in-law, Carol; niece, Michele, and nephews, Steve and Theron McLauchlan, and many great friends.
